Kamu Goes to the Vet (Don't Worry! Nothing Serious!)

It's been super, super cold in New York this week. The temperature at night reached 15 degree F, which is about -9 degree C, but I had to take Kamu to the vet Tuesday night (Jan 22).  Tuesday morning I noticed that her right eye was half-closed. It seems that someone hit her. (Probably Shingen or Asha, since they are always mean to her.) I had to go to work but made an appointment with the vet for that evening. When I came home her eye looked much better, but I took her anyway. (But Boy, IT WAS COLD!!!)

The vet gave her a check up, and stained the eye to make sure that her cornea wasn't scratch. Thank goodness, her injury was just a scratch above the eye. The eye was a bit irritated, but fine. Nevertheless I was told to put in eye ointment for 3-5 days. Putting in eye ointment in a cat's eye is NOT EASY, but at least it's Kamu, and she is very gentle, unlike some of my other kids! (Like Shingen, I'm talking about you!)

LET ME OUT!!!!! Kamu is not Happy.

Captain Wu-Wei

Oh, you're such a hero, Captain Wu-Wei!  (NOT!!!! -- Unfortunately our dashing Captain is a bit of a chicken. He's shy, and hides whenever we have a visitor.)  Kamu is not very convincing as a maiden in distress, but she gets pick on sometime by Shingen & Asha, so needs some protection. Tempo is her champion.

But Wu-Wei still is "Our Bestest Leader" of the Righteous Cats Brigade! Yeah!

Rocker Socrates

This post is for my friend Lastrami. Here's a photo from Halloween couple of years ago. (Actually it was 2009! How time flies!) Socrates went to an all pug Halloween costume contest. He went as Mick Pugger of the Rolling Bones. The first photo was taken by a professional photographer who was there.

Socrates actually managed to win the "FUNNIEST" prize!  But he was indignant since he thought he should have won the "COOLEST" prize!

January 9, 2013

Captain Wu-Wei  is a very sensitive type.

One day, as usual, Shingen & Asha was out on a date.

Someone was watching

Captain, don't be sad. Asha just doesn't go for fluffy guys. It's not your fault that you're so fluffy.

Dasein is happy that she's not fluffy

Socrates isn't fluffy, but he sheds (Because he's a pug.)

Kamu is worried that she may be semi-fluffy

This is what Shanti thinks of fluffiness

Promise thinks fluffiness is just fine

Shingen, looking pretty.  He's pretty, but he's a BAAAAAAAAAAD BOY!

Handsome Tempo

Unfortunately, Tempo & Shingen do not get along. It's mostly Shingen's fault for being a punk, and always pushing the envelop with the other cats.

Tempo weighs less than Shingen, but he still bests him. Although he's only the second in command of the Righteous Cats Brigade,  he is the de facto leader of the felines.

Happy New Year 2013 (Day 3)

So far Asha is not very impressed with the New Year. Ho, hum, everything's the same. The boys are not very bright, Kamu is positively retarded, and the dogs are beneath notice.

(Don't be that way, Asha. We know you're superior, so be a bit more generous! Not every cats, dogs, and human can be like you! And if you ask Dasein, she may object to you Weltanschauung.)

Tempo cleans Kamu's face as usual.

Shanti is wondering... something...

Shingen is usually planning some mischief.

Oh, My Shingen!

Hmmmmm. So I did not post at all in April. Time just flies, and here it is May already. 2012 is practically half way over. How could that be! It just seems like yesterday that 2012 was an innocent young new year, and now it's already middle-aged!

Well enough ranting and raving about the passage of time... There's nothing we can do about the passing time, but at least we have photography to help us keep our tenuous connection to the time past. So I am happy I am taking lots of pictures of my kids for the 365 project.

However, I'm a bad photographer, and I really don't do a very good job capturing my kids' time, so I was lucky to have the chance last Saturday (04.28.12) of getting Shingen's pictures taken by a professional photographer, Micahel Duva (http://www.duvaphotography.com/).

Mike was looking for dog models for his portfolio, but in e-mail, he told me he'll welcome kitties too, so I took Shingen.

It wasn't easy -- Shingen was not very cooperative, but Mike was very patient and kind.

Shingen looking very handsome. He is very popular with the ladies.

He looks like he's stalking someone. (Maybe Kamu!?)
